Für alle Streaming Boxen in VW Golf 5 mit Radio RCD 300 - USB-Stick, SD-Card Interface nachrüsten

These instructions describe how you can retrofit multimedia functions (here: USB / SD adapter) in a VW Golf 5 with an RCD 300 radio. You can also use these instructions to install all Streaming Boxes.

Described as an example for the RCD 300 radio - also applicable to all other radio systems for the Golf 5 (e.g. RCD 310, RNS 300, RNS 310, MFD 2).

In order to be able to remove the radio, the panel of the center console must be removed.
First take out the sensor at the top. (Depending on the equipment, a storage space is partly built in there)

You can now remove the cover.

Now you can remove the screw under the sensor.

Now remove the second cover.

The two other screws that are now visible must be unscrewed.

Now you can easily remove the entire unit towards the front.

To do this, you have to slide the cover slightly upwards (viewed from the side of the radio) and then remove it towards the front.

The last cover can now be easily levered off.

Here you can see the snap nose of the cover.

The four screws that fix the radio can now be removed and the radio can be pulled out towards the front.

The connection cable can now be laid from the glove compartment into the radio slot. There is already an opening in the glove compartment, so you don't have to drill or anything like that.

The connection cable can now be plugged into the lower left section of the Quadlock connector. Now only the ground cable has to be connected to the housing and the USB interface is ready for use.

When installed, the result can look like this (depending on the installation location).
