Retrofitting Bluetooth & DAB+ to Audi MMI 2G for Enhanced Listening Comfort
The Audi Multimedia System MMI 2G was released in three versions:
- MMI 2G Basic
- MMI 2G Basic Plus
- MMI 2G High
The most common version is the Audi MMI 2G High, but the older versions MMI 2G Basic and MMI 2G Basic Plus are also widely used. All three versions cover essential functions but lack comfort features such as Bluetooth music streaming or Digital Radio DAB+. With our retrofit solutions, you can easily upgrade your system and enjoy more comfort in your car right away.
Which MMI 2G system do I have?
Here is how you can correctly identify your Audi MMI system.
Audi MMI 2G Basic and MMI 2G Basic Plus systems
These systems feature a red monochrome display and a control knob in front of the center armrest. Other Audi radios also use a red display (such as the BNS 5.0), but only MMI 2G Basic and MMI 2G Basic Plus combine it with the control knob in front of the armrest.
Audi MMI 2G High systems
All MMI systems include a control knob in front of the armrest, including the MMI 2G High. This version, however, has a full-color display. You can reliably identify the MMI 2G High via the software version number
. Its structure looks like this: SW: XX-XX XX-X-X XXXX
By the way: Software versions of the MMI 3G systems begin with BNav, HNav, HN+ or HN+R. More explanations here: MMI 3G Systems
How to open this menu: Press SETUP on your system, then select SETTINGS (top right). Now choose VERSION at the bottom of the list.

. They are strongly recommended for a damage-free installation. A step-by-step installation guide is always included, and demo videos are available on the product page.
Connection options
The MMI 2G systems use MOST optical technology, allowing you to connect various additional interfaces to expand the system. All connections are made using plug-and-play connectors.
